When to get rugby tickets

September 8th, 2008

Rugby union is a sport played outside on an oval field with fifteen players to a team. It is a form of contact sport and each team attempts to make points by passing and kicking the footy behind the team’s home line. The opposing team must impede this attempt. This sport has become a well-loved spectator game and rugby tickets are regularly in demand.

Football has become an global sport, with nations across the world developing national teams. The sport has gained especial popularity and importance in nations such as England, Australia, Wales, France and New Zealand. With the increasing globalization of the sport, there is a growing focus on worldwide games where countries play against each other for the prize of being the top in the world. These global games - and the rugby tickets - draw a worldwide audience.

The precise origins of rugby union are unknown, although games involving kicking and passing a footy would have been known for some time. The rules of union, however, were first written down in the English town of Rugby in 1845. Although the sport was codified so that rules controlled its play, union players supported the principle of amateurism. Where different games built up the professionalism of the game with team members who did the game for a living; rugby union did not become a ‘professional’ game until 1995. Although an ‘amateur’ sport until 1995, rugby tickets have been sold for as long as the sport has been in existence.

The global matches are perhaps one of the most famous modes of games in union and the enormous amount of rugby tickets bought are a testament to that. There are three elite global games: the Tri Nations series, which is played by Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in the southern hemisphere; the Six Nations Championship, played by England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy and the Rugby World Cup, the only truly internationalworldwide union game.

Each year, more and more rugby tickets are purchased across the world as global matches become increasingly followd. The earliest global game in union history was the so-called “Home Nations” matches that were created in 1883 with England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Eventually, this developed into the Five Nations Championship with the addition of France in 1910 and then the Six Nations Championship with the addition of Italy in 2000. The southern hemisphere equivalent is the Tri Nations Series, which has its origins in the informal matches between Australia and New Zealand, which began in 1903. South Africa toured both nations in 1921 but the informal matches did not become a official global match until 1996.

The Six Nations Championship has been succeeded by the Rugby World Cup as the leading global championship, from its first game in 1987. Although a belated inclusion on the global union scene, more than two million tickets were bought in 2007, which easily competes with the number of rugby tickets purchased for other elite matches.

The arrangement of the global matches varies between each championship. Both the Six Nations Championship and Tri Nations Series are held yearly and rugby tickets run out fast. However, where in the Six Nations Championship each side competes against every other team once; in the Tri Nations each team plays the other three times, with the overall winner decided on a points system. The Rugby World Cup is held every four years and the twenty member teams go through two stages: a group and a knock-out. The next Cup for which tickets will be sold is in 2011, when the World Cup will be hosted by New Zealand.

Lions tickets make excellent gifts for any rugby fan of your acquaintance. Six Nation rugby tickets can be purchased for any budget and it is a sport fun for all ages and is a fun way for a family to spend time with each other. Even people who don’t usually follow union find themselves enjoying the game if they’ve been given rugby tickets - it’s never long before the liveliness of the audience and the exhilaration of a live game draws them in!

Six Nation rugby tickets are sold by a variety of companies. Six Nation rugby tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and all ticket owners are given a seat allocation. The fastest way to buy rugby tickets is on the internet and costs vary depending on where the ticket-holder’s location in the arena will be. For global games, rugby tickets can sell fast so it is always necessary to get in and purchase them as soon as possible.
