Nokona gloves a big competitor of rawlings gloves nowadays

June 10th, 2010

The young boy is convinced baseball mitts sounds hilarious. His dad lets him buy a new glove instead

My son tends to make fun of me everyday. He thinks just how I talk about baseball mitts is definitely the funniest thing. We sometimes think he looks toward baseball season just so he could have a good laugh at me. Of course, my son Danny becomes very serious when it comes time to buy a brand-new baseball mitt. You’d think Danny would not need lots of baseball mitts, and yet he is growing very fast and the baseball glove from this past year just wouldn’t fit the following season.

In recent times I have learned all about baseball mitts. I know that a children’s baseball infield or outfield glove is great for little league, however , as your kid develops, the junior baseball mitt just cannot do it. I also realize that paying for cheap baseball mitts just loses you more bucks in the long run. I purchased one or two very low priced baseball mitts when my son was beginning and I only had to go back and get a mitt that was high quality. I learned my wisdom right at the outset. So never forget: absolutely no discounted baseball gloves.

Returning to baseball mitts overall. You’ll want to pick out a baseball mitt that fits properly. You also need to settle on a likely position and look to get baseball mitts that fit that category. For specialized spots, there would be the catcher’s glove as well as first base mitt. I continually point out to my boy that these are genuine baseball mitts. Ha, Ha I claim. There’s also pitcher’s gloves, different infield gloves, outfield gloves, plus the unusual switch thrower’s baseball mitt.

Right now there are a number brands of baseball mitts available. I can tell you about the 3 that my young baseball player and I have learned to appreciate. Both of us go back to the Wilson a2000 glove, the Nokona glove, as well as Rawlings gloves over and over. The Wilson company is the major athletics gear maker situated in Chicago. They construct gear for a lot of sports, but baseball is one of the most significant. Wilson Sports hand crafts gloves for all of the basebll spots and has got 3 top products. My kid tested out the Wilson a2000 glove early on in his baseball career. He preferred the snug fit in the Wilson a2000 glove from the second he tried the glove on his hand. I preferred the Wilson a2000 glove also, but that’s since it was at a great cost.

So next we proceed to the Nokona gloves. Nokona has actually been making mitts in Texas since 1934. They know their stuff. They started off making baseball gloves to help with costs in the Great Depression. I’m a baseball history buff, therefore the Nokona glove carries a specific appeal to me. My son can care less about all that. He favors the Nokona glove as it color and web look way cool & fits his smaller fingers completely. My boy likewise loves his Nokona glove for the reason that when he plays with it he plays awesome.

Though he’s got his trusty Nokona mitt, we now have bought a few Rawlings gloves to own as back-up. My boy came to the conclusion the Rawlings gloves were built with a whole lot to offer. They’re after all the endorsed glove provider of Major League Baseball. If it wasn’t for the Nokona glove, the Rawlings gloves would be his favorite.

In case you have a kid only starting in baseball, look into the Wilson a2000 glove. With a little luck by using this glove initially will lead to a long love of baseball like Danny and I have.

This 30 year old baseball rec player was glad he bought the catchers helmet

June 10th, 2010

I needed to get to know baseball once for a paper in middle school. I did not receive the best score, I’m sure it was a C, but I thought it was quite informative. I had no clue it’d come in handy while I was an adult. I signed up to play baseball in the city league this coming year. I’m not a very good baseball player, however my friends and I are essentially trying to play just for exercise. All of us thought we’d have fun playing the best we could and after that celebrate a win or even a big loss at our own treasured neighborhood pub. They were our team’s sponsor naturally. I resolved that I preferred to become the catcher for our team. All right, I didn’t really choose so much seeing that I got elected. I quickly found out that there was loads of catcher’s gear to get. With some luck this game was not gonna make me poorer.

Catchers gear includes protective equipment meant to shield you from the painful impact from the baseball. In general, the baseball catchers equipment will not really differ very much from softball protective gear. You would reckon that since mainly girls play fastpitch, competitive softball protective gear could have additional cushioning as well, however it does not. One item that baseball catchers equipment includes that softball protective gear won’t require is the protective cup. That would absolutely be an important part of my catchers gear.

I was going to have a catcher’s mask, chest protector, shin guards, a catchers helmet, and a catchers mitt for my catchers equipment. I used to always catch with Rawlings gloves back when I was a teen. I guessed I’d verify if they manufactured a catchers glove I might play with. I was certain they did

So my catching gear research began on the internet. I located lots of internet sites and lots of different models of catchers gear. I got the cup, the face mask as well as the chest and shin protectors rather quick. I had almost all of my catching gear. Thus far so good, I figured. Next I would need a catchers helmet along with a catchers glove. I did get a Rawlings glove, so this made me happy. The catcher’s helmet proved to be the most difficult of the baseball catchers gear search. I looked on line and visited the store. At last, I came across the one that I felt could protect my head good enough.

After considerable time, I’d all the catchers gear I was required to have. I was prepared to play the game and the spot behind the plate. Throughout our local baseball season, I was very happy about my choice of baseball catchers gear. Other guys were struggling with some of their catching equipment. The helmet, the item of catchers apparel I put in the most energy on, was giving everyone trouble. I felt silly spending that long selecting a helmet, however it payed off. I might not have been the top catcher, but I became the most effective at picking baseball catchers equipment.

Daughter chose a Nokona glove as her favorite

June 10th, 2010

Our young daughter has resolved that softball is the sport and she’ll play 1st base.I’m thrilled, my better half is concerned she’ll get hurt. She worries all the time. I tell her be happy that it’s not football or wrestling One thing I had been getting excited about has been choosing her youth softball mitt. I remember finding my first baseball glove with my dad. Which in fact had been many years ago, so i decided to check out the youth softball gloves of today. The net is loaded with lots of selections for the fastpitch gloves. This was going to be a good time.

Right after my girl started out playing, she was given first base. I had been a shortstop, so I reckoned this was good. Now we needed to check out 1st base mitts. First base gloves are actually distinctive from other infield softball gloves. First basemen’s gloves are actually comparable to catcher’s mitts. First base mitts are usually longer obviously, however they also do not have individual fingertips. 1st base gloves can be found in either left and right, my daughter is left handed.

So, we were hoping to find a a lefty youth softball glove. My initial inclination was to check out a first base softball mitt from Nokona. I always used a Nokona glove whenever I played ball. The Nokona glove which I used was an infield mitt, and so I needed to see alternative brand names too. I know the endorsed mitts of the MLB are Rawlings gloves. That doesn’t automatically render the Rawlings gloves better than the Nokona mitt, but it means they are well worth a look.

Rawlings has first basemens softball mitts too, so at least they had versatility. I learned that 1st basemen’s softball mitts weren’t any different as compared to first basemens gloves for baseball. The range of Rawlings gloves was tremendous. In the Rawlings internet site there are 499 choices for Rawlings softtball or baseball gloves. Thankfully one could slim the Rawlings mitts choices down by how you throw and then youth and then infield softball gloves. This helped a great deal. Soon I was able to pick out the 2 or 3 Rawlings gloves which I believed were going to work for my young softball player.

I thought about going back to the Nokona glove of my childhood. I decided to check out the particular options they had to present too. They manufacture plenty of infield gloves from which to choose. I uncovered the ideal 1st base mitt. At this point I needed to choose.

Finally, I determined to get the Nokona glove and one from the Rawlings gloves. My superstar first base softball player alternates between them depending on her superstitions. She’s having a blast playing softball, and my spouse is content that the girl has not gotten injured. Now I’m getting excited about my girl becoming older so she can play high school fastpitch. I definitely count on getting her another softball glove. Also can’t wait to shop for some youth baseball gloves for the youngest son (only 6) and softball gloves through the rest of their early years.

Some helpful info on buying baseball and softball bats this summer

June 10th, 2010

Understanding how to buy fastpitch softball or baseball equipment when you’re a new comer to the game maybe a bit outdated is often a little overwhelming for parents. Whether it’s choosing the right size softball bat or perhaps the perfect baseball glove for trying to play infield or outfield, a lot of parents find this endeavor rather tricky and rewarding as well. Suitable softball/baseball equipment should help your kid to exhibit their very own skills at the field.

All the same, there are still differences between softball and baseball equipment, which makes good sense as competitive softball originated from baseball. Certain baseball equipment is often tried for softball gear, such as helmet protection, youth cleats, but baseball and softball bats too.

Even so, one could play fastpitch by using a baseball bat and reverse, although the results will vary. One should consider that fastpitch bats weigh less and while playing baseball it will very likely get chipped. Also, baseball bats are heavier and 12 inch softballs are much bigger, and so it could be poor choice too. Youth Leagues utilize bats from 26 to 31 in . long with weight between sixteen and 23 ounces. Today, baseball and competitive softball bats are made of lots of materials Long time ago, softball/baseball bats were being composed of wood. Since the sports engineering progressed, baseball/softball bats are now usually made with metallic alloys like light weight aluminum and titanium.

In addition, it is quite difficult to determine if a bat will be the correct weight for ones youngster. The best thing to do is to see how he/she hits vs pitched baseballs. Hitting from a tee or against a soft toss can provide a player unreliable results. If you happen to get a softball bat that is either too heavy to swing or too long, it will be the right strategy to stick it in the equipment bag and wait for next season. A poorly picked softball bat may discourage your young ballplayer and it can lower his/her squad’s ability to win games.

You will discover bats to be costly, particularly when you are trying to consider the price and performance. Then again, you have to be mindful that no matter how well you maintain a bat, your child may well grow too much, and in this way a bat may last just one season.

Your next big decision that is very important for ones little leaguer may be for a mitt or a glove. Before you go shopping for this equipment you’ll want some knowledge of them. First, you don’t want to purchase a baseball mitt at a garage sale or from a toy store. All those teeny mitts turn out to be awful for catching the baseball or softball. They’ll never soften as will genuine mitts. Mainly, they are too small to be able to help the young player scoop even a partially wayward throw. Next, you need to be very cautious concerning the size of the mitt. Test it out at the retailer to find if the softball stays in the glove. If the young ballplayer cannot pick up a practice grounder using one hand, then the glove’s too large. Give some thought to ordering the softball mitt on-line, however, as the pricing is typically 15-20% less (with free delivery)

If you have a young softball player you will need to invest your cash on other softball gear besides bats and mitts. For those who have a softball catcher in the household, you will need protective softball equipment, including shin pads, chest protectors, masks and catcher helmets. Protective baseball gear includes shin guards, a chest protector, protective cup and a face mask. Besides the before outlined softball equipment, you could also have to find softball uniforms. It is difficult to distinguish softball from baseball clothes. As a final point, it is important for all those young softball players to have shoes that fit well.

Matching pink softball batting gloves - Wow!

June 1st, 2010

Batting Gloves for a Baseball 5 year old & Pink Softball Batting gloves for a young softball superstar. Or simply the way one particular sports parent doubles up in 2 sports activities for his son and girl

We are in a tiny community. Because of this we usually do not have many volunteers with time to fill the baseball and softball coaching roles for a lot of the squads. Some of us double up. This season I’m coaching my 6 year old son in baseball and my 12 year old daughter in softball. It actually works out quite nicely. I expend major time on preparation for the imminent season. I ensure both squads have the right equipment.

My own boy’s baseball team is actually a beginner’s team. They require lots of stuff. I have been evaluating baseball mitts, batting gloves, baseball and softball bats. I don’t have to be concerned too much about the baseball gloves. Nearly all kids have their own. I can help out moms and dads by showing all of them what kind of baseball mitts usually are good matches for their own children. I additionally hold a few extra baseball mitts on hand since five year old boys leave behind things.

Batting gloves for baseball doesn’t seem like some thing a 5 or 6 year old will require, but you’re incorrect. The batting gloves utilized in baseball will help with grasp. People usually do not want to get struck with hurtling baseball or softball bats. Batting gloves for baseball furthermore helps guard a child’s hand from blisters. Shock absorption definitely is a benefit to donning batting gloves in baseball, especially in the chilly weather condition of spring as well as the sizzling hot, sweaty time of summer time Currently my favorite batting glove is the Nokona baseball batting glove. I am getting my son his own Nokona baseball batting glove and he is so geezed. Finally, I cheat a little in a single equipment category, baseball / softball bats. I normally shop for the same baseball & softball bats for each of those teams considering they are nearly the same. I just have to change the dimensions of the baseball or softball bats due to the ages of the young players I coach.

This season however, the daughter has been keeping an eye on me. The girl insists that softball sports equipment should really be different as opposed to baseball. The girl states her squad wants unique softball bats this year. It really is the exact same debate we have each year. She says softball bats are special. I say let us get pink softball bats and all pink softball sports equipment. She runs and gets her mom. She normally is the winner this way. Therefore I got her softball sports equipment especially to make her happy. As a joke though, I did grab a softball bat and decorated it pink for her. Incredibly, she didn’t strike me using it. Needless to say, that could be due to the fact we expended serious energy getting her and her teammates coordinating softball batting gloves having the team emblem. My daughter is growing to be quite the batter, so neat softball batting gloves are very important. We spent hours on-line scouting just about every pair of softball hitting gloves in the current market. We tested the softball hitting gloves on at the mall and her teammates did as well. All of us ultimately opted on a pair from Nike. The amusing point about this is they are pink softball batting gloves. I think she has got the same sense of humor as her dear old father.

Just after all this, I was happy when the sports seasons started. My five year old boy had a terrific year. His Nokona baseball batting gloves seriously paid off. My twelve year old comedian daughter finished up hammering something like 20 home runs using her pink Nike softball batting gloves. I have to say that I really like coaching the two squads. I pray the town doesn’t have enough instructors all over again next season. (552)

Find the right size and avoid pointless aggravation or possible injury. You can generally trade gloves as your softball catcher gets older and requires a bigger size.

Finally, catcher gloves have evolved into being more flexible and looking more like a first base mitt as the quickness of the ball glove to hand exchange for a catcher is critical to throwing out baserunners or making various other plays. Usually, you can have your gloves with open and closed webs. Open webbing is the option of middle infield, first base and some outfielders. It helps them to get the softball out of the glove more rapidly. However, open webbing will not last for a catcher For that reason, the closed webbing is a choice of catchers.. They like the extra support that a closed webbing provides.

What are the sizes and materials used in baseball mitts?

May 27th, 2010

This article is an intro to baseball mitts for individuals brand new to the overall game or who wish to purchase baseball gloves for their young man for the very first time. Baseball participants don gloves, often called mitts. These types of baseball gloves are constructed with leather, and you can select among different kinds. They are worn by all ballplayers and this includes specific gloves for 1st basemen or catchers on the defending team. The baseball gloves come in handy when the catcher or another defensive player wants to receive a throw that is thrown by his / her teammate.

Baseball gloves were not employed in the early days. Catchers used to catch the ball with bare hands. But the time of the bare hand baseball players are gone; these days, ballplayers employ gloves. One of the first baseball players, to utilize the glove was Doug Alison who performed with the Cincinnati Red Stockings. It was in the 1870’s even though Charles Waite is acknowledged for having worn it first.

Spalding has been one of the companies which produced and even still makes baseball mitts along with athletic equipment. Around 1920, Bill Doak proposed that a baseball mitt had a web positioned in between the thumb and the first finger so as to create a pocket that will help the catcher or first basemen reel in the ball much easier. This brand-new model subsequently became the standard in a baseball mitt. Shortly afterwards, baseball gloves moreover grew to a size where a baseball can be grabbed with only one hand as opposed to employing two hands as was the case previously. At present, the design and the dimensions of baseball gloves are ruled by the baseball regulations. Present day baseball gloves are designed to be more precise and much more helpful. Various manufacturers make baseball gloves or mitts, some are Wilson and their own widely known serial A2000, Nokona and Rawlings gloves. Authentic NFL Jerseys Are Worth The Price

May 18th, 2010

As a big fan of professional football, I love to look for apparel from my favorite teams and players, and authentic NFL jerseys are always one of my favorites. There is something about having the jersey of your favorite athlete that gives you a sense of pride.

As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I have the jerseys of several Cowboys greats, such as Randy White, Larry Allen, Chuck Howley and Bob Lilly. I prefer a lot of the older players and tough guys, and finding authentic NFL jerseys for some of them can be rather difficult.

I do catch some flack for this, especially from friends of mine that live in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. I also have some friends that live in New York who despise the Cowboys, and it seems that they really hate Dallas more than they do the other NFC East division rivals.

The thing is, they all buy authentic NFL jerseys of their favorite players as well, and subscribe to the same philosophy that I do – while authentic jerseys may cost a bit more, they are well worth it in the end, because they last practically forever.

I had a friend of mine tell me one time that I should just go ahead and buy replica jerseys, because they look the same and most people cannot tell the difference between a replica and an authentic jersey. My answer is always the same: I can tell the difference, especially after a few years.

It seems to me that authentic NFL jerseys hold up better through washings and the general wear-and-tear of everyday life than replica jerseys. I have one authentic Tony Dorsett jersey that is nearly 20 years old and is still in good condition. This is a jersey I have even worn while playing games of tackle football with my friends.

Another thing for me is that there is just something special about knowing that you are wearing the exact same kind of jersey that your favorite football players are wearing. That is something you get with authentic NFL jerseys that you know for a fact you are not getting with replica jerseys.

I guess for the casual football fan who is probably not going to wear a jersey that often anyway, a replica jersey is acceptable. It is going to be cheaper and, yes, it does look pretty much the same. For me and other hardcore fans, however, and for those fans that can afford it, authentic NFL jerseys are definitely the way to go if you want to keep them in good condition for years to come.

Vintage baseball gloves and other baseball collectibles

April 18th, 2010

Are Baseball Collectibles Still Worth Collecting?

I was rummaging through one of my closets the other day when I happened upon one of the most fond memories from my childhood – my baseball card collection. In it, I have hundreds of valuable cards and other great baseball collectibles that I spent years researching, collecting and safely storing so that one day, I would have a veritable gold mine of my own. I also have some classic autographed baseball gloves that I’ve collected over the years

I remember scouring the old Beckett Magazine price guides and seeing such players as Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and, of course, probably the most coveted of all baseball collectibles. One of the rarest commodities of all is the famous Honus Wagner rookie card, valued at $100,000 in the late 1980s.

I would often brag to my parents about how one day, I would be able to sell my baseball cards and other collectibles and retire off of the profits. Naturally, when I found my old card collection that afternoon, I expected a joyful trip down memory lane and the opportunity to see how much my original investment had paid off so far.

I have to say, however, that I was pretty disappointed.

It was not disappointing that I lacked any baseball collectibles of players who were considered the absolute elite of their generation, but rather that so many of them were linked to the infamous Mitchell Report, which tied hundreds of players to steroid abuse. I sifted through card after card, and probably six out of every 10 were suspected of using or had admitted to using performance-enhancing substances.

I still had several great players who played the game clean, guys like Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Tony Gwynn and Mike Schmidt, but the once-comforting thought that I had in my possession a gold mine of baseball collectibles had all but evaporated.

I think the worst part about it is that baseball is the national pastime. It is something that fathers and sons have shared for generations, and as one man tells his son about the great players of his time, the son, whether consciously or not, starts to make his own list of players that he thinks are the greatest he has ever seen.

I know that in the very near future, I will start to take my own son to baseball games, he will bring his baseball mitt and I’ll begin teaching him about the sport that is so near and dear to my own heart. He will probably start looking for baseball collectibles of his own that he thinks will be worth a lot of money some day.

I am very pleased to see that Major League Baseball has taken steps to cut down on steroid abuse in baseball, and my hope is that my son grows up admiring players who are steroid-free.

As for whether or not baseball collectibles are still worth collecting, I think the answer is still a resounding “yes,” but collectors should be aware that what once seemed like a sure thing to appreciate in value over time may one day prove otherwise.

A Study Shows that Sports Head Injuries are more Common than you would Think. While this article talks generally about football injuries softball and baseball injuries are also on the rise. Quality helmets and softball protective gear are important pieces of sports equipment. Face guards, mouthpieces and other softball and baseball protection will reduce the risk of sports injury.

There is that scene in that old movie Jerry Maguire where Cuba Gooding Jr. gets knocked out cold during a particularly aggressive professional football maneuver in the arena, and everyone goes through some breathless minutes seeing if he will move again. This year’s Super Bowl just went by, and professional football events will happen around the year; but about the last thing that anyone seems to think about in the same context as the Super Bowl, is how much of a possibility it is in professional football that an athlete will suffer a sports head injury. Well, someone’s paying attention. The American Medical Association’s professional magazine put out a report nearly a century ago that claimed that even a single football style blow to the head, through a helmet can cause what they call concussion hemorrhages. That was written a century ago, and only now have there been Congressional hearings into what happens long-term athletes, professional or amateur, who get head butted and the like.

And apparently there is a lot that happens. Athletes end up with uncontrollable anger problems, with walking in an uncoordinated fashion, and with finding it hard to do elementary reasoning. In fact, the all-macho NFL is issuing new rules this coming season to make sure that players who have had sports head injuries before, don’t come back to tempt fate again. They certainly take the “better late than never” adage seriously at the NFL, don’t they? They certainly hate to do this; they only announced this two months ago, and already their brain injury specialist, is taking it back and telling Congress that the evidence is nothing more than anecdotal.

But why go on research done by the medical association nearly a century ago? Apparently, the kind of research they did on damaged brains back then was so thorough, so complete, that there was no was no need ever to question what they did. The research took in 300 athletes, from boxing and football, who had died of sports head injuries. They also looked at a couple of dozen retired boxers whom anybody would call punchdrunk. They did not walk properly, they did not talk properly, and they certainly did not think properly. It looks like they were coming down with Alzheimer’s. A couple were even blind, nearly. Why, we do know what happened to Mohammed Ali, don’t we? Apparently, what happened to him was no exceptional affliction.

When a person takes a hit to the head, the brain knocks against the skull with ample force. The rubbery organ sometimes leaves a little too, and scars over. That kind of scar, gives you Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. In fact, NFL players more often than not, die before they hit 50. When they autopsied these four players, they found dark scar tissue in their brains, similar to what they see in Alzheimer’s patients. No one can be jolted into action the way those autopsy doctors can, actually seeing the damage with their own eyes. Sports head injuries are about real people, dying pathetically an undignified way. In a few years, all contact sports could carry a federal warning.

This is critical in softball for your youth ballplayer. Wear good fitting protective equipment and make sure the helmets are highly safety rated. Get your sporting equipment and protecting gear from reputable online vendors.

Off Road Running with Boys training shoes

February 24th, 2010

I have a pretty strict training program and follow a pretty strict workout regimen in order to stay in shape. As part of the program, I run have to run close to 50 miles per week. That seems like a lot, but it breaks down to five miles per day for five days, with two days of rest. That’s less than 100 minutes per day, which is extremely manageable, even for a non-athlete like me. Nevertheless, 50 miles a week is still hard on the knees, particularly when I have to run on concrete sidewalks or asphalt streets. That’s why I recently invested in a pair of boys shoes, more specifically a pair of boys training shoes.

With Boys training shoes, I can comfortably go off-road and jog on softer surfaces that are easier on all my joints. Boys training shoes have a lot of great features that benefit runners like me, and have proven to be an excellent buy thus far. For example, I love all the lugs on the bottom of the shoe. These give me exceptional traction on dirt and grass, and allow me to go full speed without worrying about losing my footing and taking a tumble. In addition, the shoe comes with extra cushioning in all areas to absorb the numerous shocks that come about from running on trails and paths, that’s why I need strong rugged boys shoes.

I also love how my Boys training shoes have a special “Odeur Eater Dry” liner to help wick moisture away from my feet while I’m jogging. This not only makes me more comfortable throughout my workout, but also helps prevent blisters and other foot ailments that could knock me off my training schedule. Another terrific feature on my Boys training shoes is the “rock stop” guard near the toe area that protects me from getting nicked by sharp rocks or sticks while I’m off the beaten path.

I was expecting to pay quite a bit for exercise equipment of this quality, but luckily I decided to look around on the internet first. I found several sporting goods websites that offer discount Boys shoes for much less than what I would have paid at a regular retailer. I just had to make sure I knew my size before placing my order (I went to a local store to try on a few pairs), and I was good to go. I ended up saving about 35 per cent off the suggested retail price, and got free shipping on the deal too.

Now that I’ve been running on softer surfaces with my Boys training shoes for a few months, I’m really starting to notice the difference. My knees don’t ache as much, and I don’t get fatigued as quickly during my outings. I have a feeling this purchase will allow me to flourish in my training program and I am hoping to enter the London marathon next year and complete it in a really fast time.

Northern pike fishing tips to catch bigger fish

December 30th, 2009

Big fish are a lot more fun to catch than little fish. At least they are for me. I’d much rather catch a 10# walleye than a limit of 1 1/2 to 2 pound walleyes.

Catching big fish isn’t the easiest thing in the world but you can maximize your chances of catching bigger fish just by going to a lake that is noted for big fish.

Asking at your local bait shop is one of the easiest ways to find lakes with big fish but there is another method that works even better. More on that in a minute. Pay attention to the big fish pictures at any bait shop you go into. If they have the lake where they were caught it makes it a lot simpler. How to catch bigger fish will not be a problem if you follow these great fishing tips.

Start keeping track of the lakes where the big fish come from. If you’re like me you get to quite a few baitshops in a year and you should be able to put quite a few lakes into your notebook. The more baitshops with pics of big fish from the same lake the better off you will be. Fish those lakes for those species.

These northern pike fishing tips are primarily for fall northern pike fishing. For me fall northern fishing was always better than spring fishing. Doing most of my northern fishing in MN, with their late opening season, generally the big northerns were already in deeper water by the time the season opened. At least in Southern MN.

I’m going to assume you have some knowledge about fishing for northerns but I’ll give a couple of the techniques I use and some tips on what I look for when fishing northerns in the fall.

As far as northern pike fishing lures goes I liked a large red daredevle, a fluorescent orange and gold daredevle, a magnum floating rapala, musky lures like a suick or a musky spinner. Big lures were good lures and still are under the right circumstances. However I will say that he majority of my big northerns have come on bait and not northern pike lures.

Schwinn 431 Elliptical Trainer Review

December 11th, 2009

For the Schwinn line of elliptical trainers, two products have come near the $1000-dollar price. One is the Schwinn 460, a trainer that offers variable stride technology. The other is the Schwinn 431 elliptical trainer, an immediate upgrade to the Schwinn 430 model. The biggest change in the 431 model is the heavier flywheel. From the standard 18-lb, Schwinn has buffed the internal flywheel to a whopping 25 lbs. Because a heavier flywheel results in tougher resistance levels, this provides you with a more solid and challenging workout.

Schwinn Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike Review

December 11th, 2009

If you think that its product features overshadows its drawbacks, then the Schwinn Airdyne Upright Exercise Bike might be the best work-out machine for you. But for those that are sensitive to noise, then may not be the best exercise bike for you. There has been an increasing trend in multi-tasking that allows people to do two things at the same time. Other people read the early morning papers while working out or watch the morning news on TV while spinning the exercise bike. These cannot be possible if the equipment sends squeaky noises all across the room.

Baseball Display Cases

December 8th, 2009

Baseball display cases are a great way to showcase your first home run ball as a kid, or that autographed ball by a famous baseball player. Baseball cases come in different sizes and types. If you just have one special ball, you can purchase an acrylic case with or without a base. They are usually inexpensive but they do an excellent job of keeping your ball well protected.

If you have more than one ball you have many options. If you have up to five baseballs to display, you can get an acrylic or glass case with a holder that looks very impressive. It can be placed on a mantle or special table to be displayed.

If you have ten or more baseballs, you may want to purchase a mountable wooden case with a glass door and velvet backing. The dark velvet contrasts against the white ball and really makes them stand out. The most popular woods to choose from are oak, cherry and mahogany.

There are really so many different baseball display cases to choose from that you really can’t go wrong.
