Online Sports Store

December 9th, 2011

It’s never been easier than it is today to buy sporting goods online. I could remember back in the day, if you wanted to purchase sporting goods the options were limited. Sure, you could go down to your local sporting goods retailer and find a decent selection of sports merchandise, but most of it was limited to the local sports teams. But, that is not the case anymore. With the internet and world wide web, all you have to do is go to a online sports store and there is no limit as to how much merchandise you can purchase. If for example you live in Boise Idaho, and your favorite player is Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, then all you have to do is hop online to an online sports store and you can with a click of a mouse buy an Aaron Rodgers football jersey. It’s really that easy.

NFL Player Hines Ward Needs Alcohol Awareness Class

July 17th, 2011

Why is it so bad that NFL Player Hines Ward Needs an Alcohol Awareness Class? Maybe because the reason he needs one so badly is because he was recently arrested for a DUI. That means a number of things. First of all we run into the problems where celebrity and athlete drinking is one again brought into the forefront of public consciousness.

Better to education the public about drinking and alcohol by teaching them not shoving the fact that an notable NFL receiver may have been drunk behind the wheel of his car and possibly could have killed somebody.

Alcohol awareness classes are important for almost everyone. But even more so for public figures who are looked up to by their fans. We want public figures to be educated in the problems that alcohol and drug cause in society so that they can set good examples, and not bad examples for the young people who look up to them so much.

We don’t need a chain reaction where a celebrity DUI leads to more DUIs for regular people. Alcohol awareness education can definitely help but only if people decide to enroll!

David Meltzer Sports 1 Marketing CEO

January 20th, 2011

Great to see that david meltzer sports 1 marketing has taken the helm at Sports 1 Marketing. He was with Leigh Steinberg prior to that and should be able to make a great name for the company. I’ve been impressed with this industry and the strides that it is making. Here’s hoping that the sports marketing world really moves forward in positive ways.

There are many sports marketing companies that do a great job talking about making things happen, but the duo of Warren Moon and David Meltzer should be pretty dynamic and powerful. One of the first few things that they will likely do is bring on some great interns to help manage the business. Next, go after all of the relationships that both Warren and Dave have in the business. I’m looking forward to it.

Fantasy Football 14th Week

December 9th, 2010

Fantasy football is at an all time fever pitch. The timing is right, the athletes are strong and teams are tough. This is the 14th week of fantasy football and seeing as how the 13th week was pretty much a bust, we’re looking forward to the best to rise to the top. The Broncos are probably going to get back to running game and, of course, Pittsburgh has been doing a great job at stuffing quarterbacks.

No one knows this better than Dave Meltzer Sports 1 Marketing CEO who has taken this organization right smack into the middle of the action. Sports 1 Marketing is bringing a level of sports marketing that has not been undertaken in such a big way before. The world of sports marketing has changed the game in a very positive way and the teams and athletes represented truly get the value from this organization. More information can be found about Dave Meltzer at http://davemeltzersports1marketing.posterous.com.

Soccer Players Don’t Get Enough Respect

November 29th, 2010

I was in England about 10 years ago and happened to see a prominent professional soccer player in London. The guy was practically mobbed, and it took more than an hour to make it into the restaurant where he was originally headed.

On another occasion when I was in England, a team called Bradford City defeated the perennial powerhouse Liverpool. The next day, the town actually had a parade for its soccer players, and they were treated like heroes as they rode on floats down the main street in the city.

There are, of course, the flip sides of those stories, where goalkeepers who give up the winning score have their lives threatened, or worse. There are also brawls that break out at soccer stadiums that always give a black eye to the sport, but I think that speaks more about the passion that fans have for soccer than anything else.

Football Helmets and Bald Heads

August 30th, 2010

Have you ever noticed how football players lose their hair after a few years of playing? This is due to 2 primary reasons and this should be considered when playing high school football. You may need up bald because you played whereas you may have kept your hair if you didn’t play. If you figure you can use the head n facial sweating be gone review to counter the sweating factor you are mistaken. Wearing a helmet will make anyones head sweat. After the game you will need to wash your hair. Because professional football players wash their hair everyday, the soaps cause damage to the follicles resulting in hair loss. That is problem number one. The other is the fact that the helmet rubs on the hair and suffocates the follicles. This combined with the heat and sweat further suffocates the follicle to the point where keeping your hair is not possible.

Unless you have a chance to go pro in football, reconsider if you want to sacrifice your good looks with hair for a few years of sports.

Showing off your support for your favorite football team is fun and an important part of the whole experience. People dress up in their teams colors and have memorabilia in their houses. How the College Football Schedule Works

August 25th, 2010

Every autumn, millions of young adults journey back to college campuses all around the country. Whether you are a sports fan or not, it is pretty difficult to escape the dynamo that is college football. College football is one of the country’s most beloved spectator sports, and has been for several decades. With over 100 teams competing at the top level (Division 1-A), the college football schedule plays a crucial role in the sport.

One of the more exciting aspects of the sport, for good or bad, is the debate that arises out of the championship question. Unlike many other sports, both collegiate and professional, college football does not have a playoff system. Instead, college football teams are ranked, mostly by order of their overall record and the relative strength of opponents beaten. You can probably see already how important, then, the college football schedule is to many teams competing for the title.

Any major team’s college football schedule has to strike a proper competitive balance. Many teams bring in weak opponents in the non-conference portion of the season, ultimately treating this game like a scrimmage. This has back-fired, as top-rated teams are upset and their chances of winning a title are over before the season had barely begun. Non-conference games this early in the college football schedule is also a good time for non-conference rivalries. Some good examples of this is Michigan and Notre Dame and Iowa and Iowa State. A small handful of competitive teams will schedule games against other top 25 teams, in the hopes of boosting their strength of schedule. This can have obvious risks of course, but high rewards.

After a handful of non-conference games, the teams enter into the conference portion of the college football schedule. These games are usually highly competitive, as several of the conference of anywhere between three to seven teams ranked nationally. Teams play most, if not all, opposing teams in the conference each year. This familiarity has bred the most intense and passionate rivalries in college football, if not all of sports.

Many conference champions advance on to high yield bowl games, the final portion of the college football schedule. Here, the best teams in each conference play against each other in front of large, neutral-site crowds and nationally televised audiences. The top ranked two teams play each other for the national championship.

Overall the college football schedule stretches across for weeks and months; teams play their first game in late August, and the national championship is not decided until the second week of January the following year. Along the way, many twist and turns, routs and upsets make college football one of the most exciting and beloved sports in the whole country.

PAC 10 Football Almost Always Produces a Contender

June 2nd, 2010

As a fan of college football, whenever I think about the stronger football conferences in the country, the likes of the Big 12, the SEC and the Big 10 always come to mind. A conference that does not always get the respect it deserves, however, is the PAC 10 football conference, as it always seems to produce at least one program that can contend for a national championship.

It was only about five or six years ago that USC was considered to be the cream of the crop in the realm of college football. The University of Texas defeated them in the national championship game, but many have argued that the Trojans were actually the more talented team out of the two.

The PAC 10 Football conference has featured some pretty strong Oregon teams in recent years, and the University of California has been formidable as well. Stanford is another team that is usually in contention for a bowl game, and Arizona has been coming on in recent years.

I am not sure why some people don’t count the PAC 10 football conference among the elite in the country. I know that it used to be, and it does seem to emerge every few years as a conference with a number of strong programs.

I have wondered if it may because the PAC 10 is on the West coast, and does not always get the level of coverage that some of the other programs in the country get. It would be unfortunate if this were the case, as the PAC 10 football programs can really not do anything about this.

It could be that the PAC 10 football teams did not have a great bowl record recently, as in the 2009-2010 season, when only two of the seven schools that advanced to a bowl game actually won, USC and UCLA.

I do know that the PAC 10 football conference has produced two national champions in the last 10 years, with USC winning back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004 and reaching the championship game a third time in 2005.

I also know that the PAC 10 football conference receives a number of bowl bids every year, with many of the schools finishing the regular season with impressive records.

The PAC 10 football conference should be respected because it almost always produces a contender — a team that is ranked and can compete among the top 10 programs in the country. It has produced a number of talented NFL players, and it fields some of the more quality college football programs in the country.

Football weight training for those who haven’t made the team yet

April 27th, 2010

If you’re an aspiring footballer, still young and growing, and you love those linemen positions, guard, tackle, center, end, and the personal challenge of holding a a piece of ground or crashing through a mass of meaty, growling guys intent on stopping you in your tracks, but you just don’t have the weight and strength to compete at this point on a junior varsity or varsity team, there’s still hope. If you’re fast, have endurance and stamina, not much at catching a football, but you can run into a wall of guys crouched to catch and throw you on the ground, you’re probably the right man to play fullback, but if you’re thin and not at your peak strength, you’ll need to put on weight, not fat, but thick, firm muscle. If you’re one of these guys, what you need is a regimen of football weight training.

Performing the proper weight training can increase both muscle bulk and muscle strength, fairly quickly and, if you do it regularly, to lasting affect. Football weight training is generally part of your daily football practice if you’re already on a team, but here we’re talking to those boys who haven’t made it on the team yet and want to know what they can do to get on one when tryouts come up in the Fall. You’ve got more than enough time to put on that weight and increase your strength if you start a football weight training program now. Even if you wait until the summer, three months will be enough time to build up your muscles and strength in time for tryouts in September. Less than three months will not do.

Your objectives in football weight training are quiet clear. You’re after strength and bulk, not definition. That means lifting increasingly heavier weights. If you work with light weights only, you’ll get some bulk, not much, but your muscles will become clearly defined. That’s nice for the beach, but not for the football field. Here’s what you need to do. Start the first week lifting as many pounds as you can, doing a repetition of ten lifts. You have to get the repetitions in, so don’t lift too much so that you tire before the ten. Do bench presses, squats (using heavier weights than for arm, chest, and shoulder development, since your legs are always stronger than the rest), tip-toe lifts for the calves, and side lifts. Do your curls with the same amount of weight you do your over-head lifts and front, crouch to chest, lifts. You can do bench presses with weight heavier than you use for arm work. The next week, add two to two and a half pounds more. The third week, add another two pounds, and on the fourth week, don’t add any new weight. Then, on the first week of the second month of your football weight training program, add two and a half pounds again and work with that for the rest of the week. Do exactly what you did the previous month, increasing weight each week. At some point, you’re going to find that you’re not able to make it through all the repetitions. That’s when you stop adding weight. Continue to work with the same weight until the repetitions become easier. Then start adding weights again.

Football weight training can be very grueling work. You’re breaking down muscle so that it will heal and become stronger. You’re going to hurt. Take steam baths, get massages, and be certain not to strain yourself to the point you cannot continue your training. Keep working at it, and when the Fall comes, you’ll be sporting some tough, fleshy muscle that will be sure to put you on the starting line-up and on your way to football glory. Remember, it doesn’t work until it hurts, but also, don’t strain yourself.

College Football Tickets for Any Team

March 18th, 2010

I remember the very first time I attended a college football game in person. I was a senior in high school and was visiting the University of Wisconsin for the weekend to see if Madison would be a good place to spend the next four years of my life. Up to that point, I had always been a huge fan of the NFL, but didn’t bother much with NCAA games. But being in a stadium with 80,000 rabid fans decked out in red and white to cheer on the Badgers completely changed my mind. That was one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and ever since then I try to buy college football tickets so I can see the top teams in the country battle it out on the gridiron.

I ended up going to the University of Missouri, and though I had fun watching the Tigers during my years in Columbia, I’ll be the first to admit that they usually don’t have a very strong team. I’m still a fan, but I don’t attend very many Mizzou games anymore. Instead, I’d rather buy Florida Gators college football tickets so I can see a truly elite program in action. Whenever I can get a ticket for a Texas Longhorns contest, I drop everything and travel to Austin. And scoring USC college football tickets always means a good time is coming up.

I don’t have to make big donations to any sports programs or have alumni connections in order to see the best games. These days, there are plenty of ticket brokers across the country that offer great prices on college football tickets for any team. In order to see the top teams, I do usually end up paying a premium above the face value of the ticket, but for many other schools I can enjoy excellent discounts that the stadium box office simply doesn’t offer. These extra savings allow me to take in several extra games per year and even buy a couple of hot dogs at halftime. What could be better than that?

For those times when I can’t get good enough seats from a broker, I check to sites like eBay and Craigslist for college football tickets. There are plenty of folks who can’t attend a game for one reason or another and don’t want to simply eat the cost of their ticket. The close it gets to kickoff, the better the deals I’m likely to find. This method doesn’t work very well if I’m traveling across the country for a game, but it’s awesome for the ones within driving distance.

If you’re tired of nosebleed seats or being shut out of the most meaningful match-ups on the schedule, then I suggest trying to buy your college football tickets online instead of through the school. Make the game an experience that you and your friends will treasure for a long time by getting the best seats possible!

NFL Merchandise

March 6th, 2010

Do you love football? Though baseball is considered the American pastime, others would argue that the sport that defines American sports would be football. While some cities are more ardent supporters of their teams than others, all cities that have a football team have a huge fan base whether they are doing well or having a bad year. The NFL is stronger than ever, as people need something to believe in, and something that makes them forget about their worries, even for a few hours. Fans of all ages love to wear NFL merchandise, but it’s not just about jerseys anymore.

You can find a huge selection of jerseys when you look for NFL merchandise. All teams have them for sale, with the most popular players having the best selling jerseys. What is different these days is that you can get your own name on any jersey of any team with any number that you like. You can honor your favorite player, or you can buy this as a gift for someone for almost any occasion. Though jerseys are by far not the only pieces of NFL merchandise you can buy, they are still some of the best sellers.

Not sure that jerseys are your thing? That’s okay. There is plenty of other types of NFL merchandise out there. Not only are there great things for men, there are items that women are going to love too. Make no mistake, women can love and support football just as much as men. There are jerseys made just for women, as well as tee shirts and other items made just for the female. You may be surprised at the selection of NFL merchandise made just for the ladies that want to support their favorite team.

You can get Crocs with your favorite team on them if you wish, and don’t forget about the thick winter jackets – which are great if you love the Buffalo Bills or the Green Bay Packers. There are fleece blankets that have any team on them. These types of NFL merchandise are as warm as they look, as some football fans, like those mentioned, spend a lot of time outside in the cold and in the snow. That never stops them, but it sure helps when they can warm up a bit.

Don’t forget about the shot glasses and beer mugs that you can buy through someone who sells NFL merchandise. There are bobble-heads and helmets too. If you can imagine it, you can probably find it with our favorite NFL team logo imprinted on it. Not only can you find these things when you attend live games, you can also find some in your local stores. If you like an out of state team, however, you may not find what you want locally. Don’t worry though, you can usually find what you want online no matter what team you support or where you live. NFL items always make great gifts, especially for the person who has it all. If they love an NFL team, you have great ideas out there just waiting to be found.

The NFL Quarterback Big Salaries

February 11th, 2010

The particular Bay Area quarterbacks — who are admittedly a bay away through the first-rate slingers of the actual NFL, such as Drew Brees and Peyton Manning — had comparable statistics in 2008. Both thrown 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Hill completed 181 of 288 passes for 2,046 yards; Russell linked on 198 of 368 passes for 2,423 yards.

The bargain-priced overall performance made Hill the 13th most cost-effective quarterback within the NFL, ahead of Brees and Peyton, at least when it comes to dollars and overall performance, in accordance to a recent bizjournals research of pay levels and on-field performances.

Russell finished at No. 24, also ahead of Brees and Manning — and even Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger and on-again, off-again retiree Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings.

But who was the best bargain in the Bay? J.T. O’Sullivan, a backup quarterback for the 49ers, who finished at No. 7, mostly because of his $491,000 income.
Bench warmer-turned-mutimillionaire

Yet none of these types of quarterbacks can compare to former New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel, who turned his backup-turned-starter performance straight into the lucrative six-year, $63 million long term contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Previous year, Cassel’s job was to ride the actual bench as the backup for Tom Brady, that had directed the Patriots to 3 Super Bowl championships since 2001. Their relative significance had been reflected within their own paychecks: Brady would end up being paid much more than $14 million in salaries and bonuses, Cassel $539,140.

However Brady experienced a season-ending knee injury in the very first game of 2008, pushing Cassel into the starting role, where he did unexpectedly good. He completed 327 passes for 3,693 yards and 21 touchdowns, leading the Patriots to 11 wins as well as five losses.

That made Cassel one of the top NFL quarterback big salaries in 2009 big salaries in 2009, in accordance to the bizjournals study.

Bizjournals analyzed nfl quarterback earnings of almost all 36 NFL players that threw at least 160 passes during the 2008 typical season. The actual highest scores went to quarterbacks, such as Cassel, that delivered huge results on the field while drawing relatively small salaries. Nevertheless, the study does not include fan appeal or the ever-important Super Bowl rings.

Each quarterback’s income cap value, described as his base salary plus pro-rated bonuses, was coordinated against his performances in 4 statistical categories: completions, yards, touchdowns and interceptions. (Salary cap values are yearly collected and reported by USA Today.)

The stats with regard to every player were converted to ratios, such as completions per $100,000 of salary cap worth. Above-average ratios (more completions, yards or touchdowns, and fewer interceptions) received positive standing on the cost-effectiveness scale, while below-average numbers were scored negatively.
Chiefs’ high-performing duo

Cassel as well as Tyler Thigpen of the Kansas City Chiefs emerged as the NFL’s 2 most cost-effective quarterbacks. They earned 6.79 and 6 points, respectively, on bizjournals’ level. Trent Edwards of the Buffalo Bills had been a distant third along with 2.56 points.

Seattle had the actual minimum top NFL quarterback top salaries for 2009, Matt Hasselbeck, who was affected with back and knee injuries last season. Hasselbeck, who was paid $9.95 million, missed a number of games. This individual threw only 209 passes, completing 109 for 1,216 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Hasselbeck’s percentages associated with 1.1 completions, 12.2 yards and 0.1 touchdowns per $100,000 had been the worst in those 3 categories among the 36 quarterbacks in the study.

The actual research did not contain anyone who attempted fewer than 160 passes, a good average of 10 per game. Dropping short of that threshold had been three of the NFL’s 10 highest-paid quarterbacks, all of who had been shelved with injuries: Brady (cap value of $14.6 million), Carson Palmer of Cincinnati ($14 million) and Alex Smith of San Francisco ($9.9 million).

Your Internet Gambling Guide

December 31st, 2009

It use to be back in the day that if you wanted to place some sports bets or play some casino games you would have to take a trip to Vegas or phone some shady bookie to get in on some of the action. But now with the wonderful world wide web and the internet all you have to do is hop on your computer and log online to get a piece of the internet gambling action.

There are some internet gambling sites that operate like full blown casino’s that allow you to play roulette, keno, craps, blackjack, Baccarat, slots or any other game that you would normally find at a real casino.

Or if your into sports internet gambling you can place any bets online from NFL games to Major league baseball, to the NBA as well as college football and basketball.

Some Internet gambling sites specialize in only one game, or in several variations of the same game. For example, because poker is such a popular game right now, there are a lot of websites that only offer this game to customers.

Sports. The Perfect Adrenaline Rush!

December 9th, 2009

As a sports fan from Pittsburgh, I am amazed at the range of emotions that I go through each week. Sometimes my mood depends solely on whether the Steelers or Penquins won this week, or what big game is coming up. I don’t know of any other thing in life that can make me so up one minute and then down the next, or vice versa.

Of course, I am passionate about many other things in life, its just that most things in life come at us a little slower. In sports, everything happens at lightning speed. Someone can score a goal at pretty much any second during a hockey game. A pass can be intercepted and run back for a touchdown at any point. You really have to watch every second of the game and it makes you so involved.

Baseball is a great example of this. During a big Steeler game, my heart is pumping so fast, especially during the closing seconds of the game when everything is on the line. The same with hockey. When the Penquins won this last Stanley cup, and Fleury stopped that last shot, I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I can’t remember my heart even pumping slightly faster during any baseball game. Now granted, I’m usually watching the Pirates, which kind of explains my boredom though. But I think the main reason for the excitement of sports is the speed of the game and baseball is so slow and long that you don’t have to have your eyes glued to the game. You’re probably not going to miss much if you look away. In the city of Pittsburgh, you could of actually looked away for the last twenty years and you wouldn’t of missed much! That’s a story for another time though.

So I think that most of us are adrenaline junkies that love the excitement and sports are the perfect fit. As a sports fan of Pittsburgh, I have been fortunate lately to watch the great teams that we have. I also know that we can’t win every game and we are not always going to be world champions. We will also have losing seasons, unless you’re the pirates, then you will only have losing seasons! That’s the beauty of it though. You never know whats going to happen and it definitely gives us an adrenaline rush each week! The main thing is to keep it all in perspective, it’s just a form of entertainment. We still have to go out and make a living, raise our kids, and love our family, no matter what our favorite team does on Sunday.

FOOTBALL BETTING PREDICTIONS START WINNING
In addition, another secret to winning sports betting predictions is to carefully evaluate the odds. The odds are the figures from which the bettors base their bets. Odds for different outcomes in a single bet are presented in European format (decimal odds), UK format (fractional odds), or American format (money line odds). It is important that you study the odds in your favorite sports and then place a bet on it…

Brett Favre Jerseys

November 11th, 2009

The Vikings now have a killer offensive team with Brett Favre on there team along with a fantastic array of other players such as Peterson, Percy Harving and an outstanding wider receiver you can bet literally no pun intended in that statement that the vikings have a clear shot at the playoffs and maybe even the Superbowl. Now in addition to having a great offense you also have a great defense as well that has stood up against some tough teams such as the Baltimore Ravens and the Broncos as well and some other highly aggressive offensives as well.

Now if you are a Packers fan or if you are a vikings fan you have the opportunity to show your spirit for either the vikings team or for Brett Favre. You will want to buy Brett Favre jerseys online and start showing your respect and admiration for the vikings or Brett but either way you have to take you hat off to a guy who is 40 years old and can still throw the way Brett can. I mean the guy still has that same competitive team spirit in him after all these years. And he shows it after every play he runs down the field to either help his teammate up or pat him on his back after a great pass. He knows how lucky and blessed he is and shows it at every game. So why don’t you help him out by showing your respect for him with a number 4 jersey.
