Who Started Fantasy Football?

May 16th, 2008

Who started fantasy football, and when? It all goes back almost 50 years when a limited partner in the Oakland Raiders and some of his sports writer and editor friends cooked up the idea during a long road trip. When they got back, they started the first fantasy football league. Initially, it was hard to form leagues and keep the information flowing, but then came personal computers and finally the Web. Today, fantasy football is big business and fantasy football team fanatics are being courted by television networks and advertisers because they watch more games, buy more tickets, and spend more on their sport than average fans.

Electronic Arts

April 23rd, 2008

When Electronic Arts set the bar fairly high with the release of Madden 2008, they knew they had to raise it even higher in NBA Live 2008. The game is slated to be on all the major consoles such as the Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and the Nintendo Wii. This year’s iteration seems to hearken back to the fundamentals of basketball. One new feature in the video game is an online tournament mode. This will be a 32 team tournament style playoff that plays similar to fantasy football.

Backyard Sports | Back Then and Today

November 20th, 2007

Nice info about backyard sports

The sharks would stand in the middle while all of the fish would have to get from one side of the field to the other. The sharks would try to tackle the fish as they rushed by. Then those fish who had been tackled would be sharks next time.

Things have really changed a lot since then. I don’t see any of the kids playing the backyard sports that we used to… read more now about BACKYARD SPORTS

If you play in a 10 or 12 team fantasy football league and get one of the last picks of the first round you shouldn’t worry to much about not getting one of the top fantasy football running backs in 2007. Is a Foul Mouth Fair Play in Sports?
My favorite coach in all of sports - Tony Dungy - was recently invited to visit my favorite team in all of football - the New York Jets. I would have considered this a fantastic event in the course of my sports fanaticism, if not for the auspicious circumstances that created this rendezvous. Rather than having two football "institutions" uniting to discuss game strategies or share thoughts on personnel decisions, the purpose for this meeting was a bit more unusual. Apparently it was to debate the appropriateness of using F-bombs and other profanity within the context of motivating professional football players.
